The government of Telangana views the Regional Ring Road as a significant transformative project. It aims to commence construction at the earliest opportunity. A crucial advancement has been made regarding the northern segment of the Regional Ring Road, as the central government has issued invitations for tenders related to the construction of Triple R. Officials will be accepting tenders until February 14. Revanth Sarkar intends to expedite the work following the completion of the tender process.
CM Revanth Reddy is scheduled to conduct a review meeting regarding the Regional Ring Road (Triple R) project on Friday, January 3. The central government has recently issued calls for tenders, particularly for the northern section of the project. Reports indicate that 95 percent of the land acquisition for this area has been finalized. The central authorities are poised to conclude the tender process shortly and commence construction. Meanwhile, the government has initiated efforts to secure funding.
The state government has opted to undertake the construction of the South Part independently and has issued tenders for the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR). However, due to a lack of responses from companies, the tender process had to be repeated. The estimated cost for the construction of the South Part is approximately Rs. 18,000 crore. To finance this project, the government intends to secure loans from organizations such as JICA and the World Bank. Nevertheless, given the anticipated high costs, the government is reassessing the feasibility of acquiring such a substantial loan under the present conditions.
The state government has formally communicated with the Centre regarding the assumption of responsibility for the construction of the southern segment. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is set to address various matters, including land acquisition, forest clearances, and the significance of adjacent areas in the project alignment during the review. On this occasion, the Chief Minister will gather updates from relevant officials concerning the progress of National Highway projects within the state and issues related to land acquisition. Prior to this review, Chief Secretary Shanthi Kumari held discussions with R&B Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Secretary Dasari Harichandana, and NHAI Regional Officer Shivshankar on Thursday, January 2. In this context, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will conduct a thorough review of the Triple R initiative on Friday.
The Regional Ring Road project entails the construction of a four-lane highway in the northern region, which will link to eleven national and state highways. This road, designed as a greenfield regional expressway, will facilitate direct travel to other states without the necessity of traversing through the metropolitan area or its outskirts. Additionally, it will provide direct access to various district centers. Consequently, the burden of distance for interstate vehicles will be significantly alleviated, leading to a reduction in the likelihood of collisions within the Hyderabad region. Enhanced connectivity is expected to promote the development of this area as an economic corridor, further stimulating growth in the business sector across the districts served by this road. Moreover, the construction of roads in various configurations near the interchanges will dramatically transform the visual landscape of the area.
